The team is split into two.

Children's Referral Team
Manager: Maggie Hope

The Children's referral team is the team who will respond first to young people, children and families who request support and advice.

The social workers in the team will talk to young people and their family in order to assess what services are needed to help them best.  This is called an "initial assessment" and must be made within 7 days of finding out that the young person needs help.

On some occasions this could mean that the child or young person's needs will be best met by becoming Looked After.

The social worker will, at that point, talk to the young person to get their views, feelings and wishes and keep them fully informed about what is happening.

The social worker will also write down as much important information about the child or young person in order to help the carer look after them best.  This would include informing them about their favourite food, television programmes and what they like to do when not at school.

We have a suggestion box in our reception area for comments in order to help us give children and young people and their families a better service.
