Games
A group of young people from the Leaving care team worked for a number of months to design a game that was fun but reflected their experiences of life in care. They met up first to work on an application for some money to the Youth Opportunity fund to allow them to do the work. Once the bid was successful they met up each week to discuss their designs for the game - at first they had ideas for a maze related game and something similar to Deal or no Deal. The next stage was to discuss with Urban River design company which of teh ideas would translate best into an online game and finally the grouyp chose the Maze related game and decided to to it in with PAC man - one of the most popular games ever! Once the basic idea was decided upon the group set to work designing the look and feel of the game and it was at this stage that they came up with the idea of combining the game with questions about leaving care - answers to which can be found on the site. The group designed a street scene theme, bonus pick ups and created questions. There were also trips out, fact finding trips, meetings with Urban River Design company, consultation with other young people and - of course - a trip to Frankie and Bennies restaurant! The young people really enjoyed the experience.
