The Leaving Care Service works with young people from the age of 15 ½ and who are in the care of the local authority. Each young person will be allocated a Personal Advisor who will help them to prepare for eventual independent living.

A Pathway Plan will be developed to help you in areas such as education/employment, finance, what acccomodation/housing options young people want to consider, college fees, benefits etc.
The department has a duty to support young people up to age 21 and 24 if they go to university and the personal advisor will support you up to that age.
The service also offers group work to help with pratical skills, drop in sessions, social activities and access to computers. We at the team look forward to working with all Looked Ater young people when they reach 15.
