Social Work Area Teams

South Tyneside Social Work teams are split into 3 area based teams, click on the links below to take you to the contact details for each team.

The teams are involved in the planning process for children who's families may need some extra support and who may be in care.

We take cases from the Referral and Assessment service and progress the plans to achieve the best outcome for a young persons future so they can be protected and have the best possible chances in life.

We can be involved in Court Proceedings where there is a need for children to be in Care and we also are involved in progressing plans for adoptions of children when their birth parents and family cannot provide appropriate care.

We also work with families for short periods to help them improve their care of their children.

We also work alongside other agencies such as the Family Centres and Community Family Support Team to achieve this.

When children need specific therapy we also get involved in referring to the appropriate agencies to achieve this.
