This site was built as an information point and is meant to act as a support for young people in Looked After care.
Four people who have all had experience of being in Looked After care originally designed the site in the summer of 2003. They worked with a company called Urban River who used the young people's ideas to design the site.
All four ‘young people' were given different roles, including technical advisor, marketing person, contents advisor and a co-ordinator. Although everybody had a role, they primarily worked, as a team to create what they believed was the best site possible. All possible candidates for the jobs were asked to attend a proper job interview.
The project took four weeks to complete from start to finish and was based at Edhill in Simonside.
Many different people including the creators and the Social Care and Health team have provided the information on the site.
Other young people have since worked on the site and provided ideas, artwork and design concepts to keep the site up to date and well maintained. The YPP team held a series of workshops over the summer of 2004 so that as many young people as possible could contribute.
If you have any ideas for the site then you can contact the Young people's participation team or come along to one of the regular website design groups.
