Life at Lanark by Katie

"I was scared when I first moved in to Lanark Drive; in case there were people who were going to do me in. I missed my mam at first. I was also cheeky to the staff because I thought that they couldn’t do anything to you! But I was wrong – they can! They can withhold your pocket money if you’re cheeky or misbehave. Now I don’t do that. I’ve learnt that if you’re nice to them then they will be nice to you.

I used to stay out all night to - but again I had some of my money taken away – you can’t get away with anything here! Before I came I thought it would be horrible inside but it’s not it’s just like a normal home.

It’s also good because there are other young people there who are all going through the same things as you.

My advice would be to treat the staff like you want to be treated and everything will be ok."
